Quick Start Guide for Cuban Buyers
KYB approved. How do I submit my first request for quotation? This guide takes you from approval to your first RFQ in under 15 minutes.
Checklist: Your First 15 Minutes
Go to My Dashboard – My Profile. Add: company description, entity type, product categories you frequently import. A complete profile improves your BTS Score and makes vendors take you more seriously.
Go to Marketplace and browse by category: Non-Perishable Foods, Personal Hygiene, OTC Medicines. Each product shows reference FOB/CIF price, minimum vendor MOQ and technical specs.
Go to Submit RFQ. Complete the form:
- Product: Descriptive name or HS code (TSRA checker confirms if eligible)
- Quantity: In MT or units. If unsure, give a range (e.g., "5–10 MT")
- Incoterm: CIF Mariel if you want the vendor to pay freight; FOB if you prefer to arrange your own shipping
- Delivery date: When you need the goods at Port of Mariel/Havana
- Notes: Specific presentation, required certifications, storage conditions
Verified vendors have 48 hours to respond. You will receive email notification when quotes arrive. In My Dashboard – My Quotes you can see and compare all responses.
Compare prices, lead times and conditions. Select the vendor that best fits your needs. When you confirm selection and coordination fee payment, the Deal Room opens and identities are revealed. From there you coordinate payment and shipment.
What Does Importing through AquiCargo Cost?
Costs for Cuban buyers:
- Buyer Basic membership: Free. RFQ fee: $99.
- Buyer Pro membership ($149/year): RFQ at $39 – save $60 per request. Break-even on your 3rd RFQ.
- Coordination fee: Only on closed deals. You pay nothing if you don't close.
FAQ – First Steps
Can I submit an RFQ for a product not in the catalog?
Yes. The RFQ form lets you specify any TSRA-eligible product. If it's not currently listed, the system distributes it to vendors in that category who may have it.
How many vendors see my RFQ?
The system distributes it to all verified vendors in that product category. The number varies by category, but typically 5 to 20 potential vendors see your request.
Can I negotiate the price after receiving quotes?
Yes. The price in the quote is the initial offer. Once you open the Deal Room with the selected vendor, you can negotiate final terms before confirming payment.
